We came up with the idea for Lil Warriors when we visited our friends Taekwondo studio in Ealing, West London. He wanted to show us the refurbishment he just had done.

Even though we loved what he had done with the place, we were more impressed by the young kids class that was being taught while we were there.

The kids, aged between 5 - 9, we very disciplined. They listened to their teachers every word, their eyes fixed on him. Whatever move he said to perform, they executed with precision. We were taken back.

We immediately knew we wanted to work with these kids, but weren’t sure about the approach. What would capture the intensity and pride that we saw in class?

After much thinking, we came up with the idea to use dramatic lighting and dust in the air to create lighting reminiscent of old martial arts movies we used to watch in our younger years. The contrast of powerful lighting and young kids seemed like and intriguing combination.

The shoot went better than expected. The kids were happy to be involved and show the dramatic kicks, punches and other moves they had practiced.

The discipline they learnt in class was carried on in the shoot. The listened to out every word. Confident. Proud. Strong. Fearless.
